‘Farm House and Field’, Eric Ravilious, watercolour, 1941.
Depicting Ironbridge Farm at Shalford, near Braintree, Essex. This was home to the growing Ravilious family. Owned by the Labour politician John Strachey, Eric is purported to have paid half the rent in paintings.
