For those of you who have studied the paintings of Simon Palmer and wondered at the stories within, here’s just the book for you. Written and illustrated by Simon Palmer, ‘Pebbles on a Beach’ tells the story, in rhyme and prose, of two men on a small island who, in the midst of an afternoon’s drinking prompted by a heatwave, decide to walk to the beach. Across the next 100 pages, we follow the men on their extended wander through 24 full colour and 17 monochrome illustrations. Each copy is signed and numbered by the author/artist.

Thought out of print for over a decade, a small store of ‘Pebbles on a Beach’ was recently discovered, and Simon very generously agreed to share some of them with us.
