Eric Ravilious ‘Westbury Horse’, watercolour, 1939. This depicts the white horse at Westbury, Wiltshire, just below the Iron Age hillfort of Bratton Castle. It was one of a number of hill figures that Ravilious was working on for a children’s book, which sadly never came to be (you can read more on the subject at the Ravilious Hill Figure Collection page).
